BOTOX
TREATMENTS
What is
Botulinum toxin A?
It is a toxin produced by the bacteria Clostridium botulinum
which
weakens muscles by
blocking nerve impulses transmitted
from the nerve
endings of the muscles. Botox
Cosmetic
blocks
impulses from the nerve to the tiny facial muscles that are
related
to
expression lines. Botox Cosmetic relaxes the muscles
so they do
not contract.
After treatment, the overlying skin remains smooth and
unwrinkled
while the untreated
facial muscles contract in a
normal fashion, allowing normal
facial expression to be
unaffected.
Is
Botulinum toxin A Safe?
Botox injections have been used safely and effectively for
over
ten years to treat
ophthalmological and neurological
disorders
by thousands of patients
worldwide. It is
used in the
treatment of certain eye disorders such as strabismus
and
blepharospasm.
It is also useful in treating certain spasms,
movement
disorders, tremors, severe
underarm sweating as
well as cosmetic skin treatment.
It is quickly becoming a
popular
treatment to reverse the visible signs of
aging. The
risk of Botox treatments are minimal. All medications have risks
of potential
side effects.The most common side
effects
following injection include temporary
eyelid droop, localized
pain, inflammation,
tenderness, swelling, redness,
and/or
bleeding/bruising may be associated with the
injection Patients
with
certain
neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, myasthenia
gravis,
or Lambert-Eaton
syndrome may be at increased risk
of serious side effects.
Botox
Botox (Muscle relaxing injection) is a nonsurgical procedure
that
can dramatically
reduce the appearance of the toughest
wrinkles,
usually within 2 weeks. The
treatment
is highly
effective. The
appearance of worry lines, frown lines, laugh
lines, crow’s
feet
and other dynamic wrinkles can now be
treated safely and nonsurgically.You
will need
to have
injections about two to three times a year.
The
early clinical studies indicate that the duration of
treatment
benefits is increased
over time so that you should
require injections
less frequently
in
the future.
Also, the
duration of effect varies from patient to patient and may
be
less effective for those
over 65 years of ageBotox & Dermal
Fillers.
In
terms of rejuvenation, the combination of Dermal fillers for
the
lower face and Botox
for the upper face is the gold
standard.
While
Dermal
fillers fills
in wrinkles and folds
and
enhances the lips; Botox erases lines due
to muscle movement.
When frown lines
are deep at rest, a combination
of
Botox and
Dermal
fillers give the best result.
Botox
will smooth out wrinkles but only a dermal filler can fill
them in.
The most frequent
areas for injection
include the lines
running
from the
nose to
the mouth and for lip
enhancement.
Because lips tend to shrink
with age, the borders of the
mouth, which
function like a frame,
tend
to lose definition.
Tiny vertical lines appear. Sometimes, the
corners of the
mouth
turn down, giving
the face a sad appearance. Deep
glabellar lines
(the lines between
the eyebrows) are also an
ideal area for treatment with fillers.
Dermal
fillers such as
(Restylane,
Boletero) result typically last 4 to 9 months.
Restylane
and boletero
are non-animal derived, limiting any
risk of allergic reaction
or of animal- based disease
transmission.
Since
Botox and Dermal Fillers are not permanent, you will
have the flexibility
to modify
your treatments to match your
desired
results.
